Soundcore Rave 3S

How Long Does the Soundcore Rave 3S Battery Last?

There is no doubt that considering the battery life of the portable party speaker you want to purchase is a crucial factor. This is true, especially if you are planning on using your brand-new speaker for beach parties, camping trips, outdoor gatherings, or barbecues. The Soundcore Rave 3S is indeed a powerful Bluetooth speaker that offers about 100W of sound with amazing bass and vibrant RGB lighting. But does it also come with a durable battery that lasts long enough to ensure your outdoor parties don’t suddenly go silent?

This blog takes you on a journey to find out the real-world battery test of the Soundcore Rave 3S. We’ll see if the actual battery performance is as good as officially claimed by the manufacturer. In addition, we’ll also figure out the impact of RGB lighting, volume, and bass on the battery of the Soundcore Rave 3S.

So, let’s dive in.

Official Vs Actual Battery Performance Of Rave 3S

According to Soundcore, the Rave 3S offers up to 12 hours of playtime, depending upon the usage. The portable party speaker comes with a 10,400mAh battery that you can easily charge using a Type-C fast charging USB cable. What’s more is that you can use your Soundcore Rave 3S as a power bank to charge a smartphone or any other gadget via USB-A port.

So, what’s the actual battery performance of this party speaker? Multiple tests were conducted at different volume levels and with RGB lights switched on and off to figure out the speaker’s real battery performance. Let’s look at the outcomes of those trials.

Trial 1
First off, the volume of the Rave 3S was set at 50%, which is good enough for indoors. Plus, the bass boost and RGB lights were kept off to simply figure out the speaker’s performance at moderate volume. Interestingly, the Rave 3S kept functioning for over 12 hours (14 hours to be exact) without interruption. This leads us to conclude that the Soundcore Rave 3S is extremely efficient at moderate settings.
Trial 2
The next test was conducted by setting the volume at 80% to see how this party speaker performs for outdoor gatherings. Don’t forget that we set the RGB lights on pulsing mode and turned on the bass boost. The outcome? The Rave 3S kept playing music for 8 hours, which means the battery drains faster with heavy bass and high volume. Moreover, the RGB lighting reduces the speaker’s playtime by up to 1-2 hours. Do you think 8 hours of playtime on this party speaker is enough time for an outdoor party? Let us know in the comments below.
Trial 3
This is where things get exciting as we set the volume of Soundcore 3S at 100%, full blast with the bass boost at max, and RGB lights on strobe mode. In case you are confused, the strobe mode is a feature that makes the speaker’s RGB lights flash rapidly and intermittently. It should be noted that setting this mode also drains the battery faster. So, what was the result of our third trial? At full power, the battery of Rave 3S lasted for only 5 hours, which is quite low compared to the settings we fixed while conducting our previous tests. Regardless, the speaker gives premium sound quality and equally appealing visuals at maximum volume and strobe mode, making it an ideal Bluetooth audio device for big outdoor parties.

Does RGB Lighting Drain the Battery of Rave 3S Faster?

The battery life of the Soundcore Rave 3S is significantly affected by the lighting mode you set for the RGB lights. Keeping the lights off allows you to enjoy 1 or 2 hours of extra playtime. On the other hand, setting the RGB lights to a static color leads to minimal drain and only reduces the speaker’s playtime by 30 minutes compared to when the lights are completely off. In contrast, the battery time is reduced by 1 to 2 hours if you set the speaker’s RGB lights to pulsing or strobe mode. To conclude, simply keep the RGB lights turned off if you do not need them on to continue enjoying listening to your favourite music for the maximum time on the Rave 3S.

The Bottom Line

Soundcore Rave 3S is an exceptional Bluetooth party speaker for both indoor and outdoor gatherings. Its 10,400mAh battery time varies depending on the RGB light mode and volume settings. Here are a few quick tips you can try to extend the playtime of your new Rave 3S on a single charge;

  • Keep the bass boost turned off when you don’t essentially need it.
  • Try keeping the volume low. The speaker is loud enough for outdoor events, even at 70%.
  • Check out the Soundcore app and enable the speaker’s power-saving mode if available.
  • Opt for static RGB lighting instead of the strobe/pulsing mode.

Make sure to charge your speaker fully ahead of a party to keep the vibe and groove going without any setbacks.
